The International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (IAOMS) aims to improve the quality and safety of health care worldwide by advancing patient care, education, and research in oral and maxillofacial surgery. The IAOMS Foundation provides educational and training opportunities for OMF surgeons worldwide.
From its origins in the early 1960s, the IAOMS has been a friendly community of oral and maxillofacial surgeons, bound together by a common enthusiasm for the well-being of their patients and the advancement of their specialty.
IAOMS seeks to constantly expand its leadership role in improving the quality of oral and maxillofacial surgery healthcare worldwide.
Our mission includes:
Identifying, coordinating, facilitating, and communicating research and patient care priorities internationally.
Communicating with government and international agencies regarding the priorities and strategies for improving care for the underserved.
Facilitating the establishment of training centers in developing countries and providing academic assistance as appropriate.
Evaluating and disseminating advances in other branches of medicine and dentistry worldwide.
Developing a bank of information of learning concerning patient care strategies and making them available through electronic and other means.
Developing practitioner-effective and friendly methods of international electronic communication and telemedicine to improve OMS healthcare.
