IAOMS Names Alexis B. Olsson, DDS, FACS, President

CHICAGO, IL (January 22, 2018) — The IAOMS named Prof. Alexis B. Olsson, DDS, FACS, President of the International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He will serve a two-year term (effective January 1) and succeeds Prof. Julio Acero (Madrid, Spain).

Prof. Olsson holds appointments at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Northwestern Memorial and Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospitals in Chicago. He is Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery and Director of Resident Training.

Prior to becoming President, Prof. Olsson was IAOMS Vice President. He has been an IAOMS Fellow since 1992, and served on numerous committees, including Assistant Executive Director.

Prof. Olsson received his undergraduate education at Carroll University (USA). He completed his graduate education at Northwestern University, and residency training in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. His clinical interests include facial trauma, reconstructive, orthognathic and implant surgery.
